Mid-June we held the first of several group workshops for eight Korean florists, organised by our lovely friends Ung and Henah at Flower Workshop Korea. It has been one of the greatest joys of the year for us, planning and hosting these visits - every student has been eager and talented and fun and even though we don't speak the same language (thank you Henah for your excellent and very patient translation!) the language of flowers, and the reverence for them, is somehow universal and overcomes any barrier to communication. We are SO looking forward to teaching in Korea in Spring 2019!
Each workshop took place over three days in order to cover the main aspects of floral design for weddings and events, from bouquets and accessories through table centrepieces and styling, large-scale urn arrangements and an organic, foam-free installation, focussing on naturalistic, garden-inspired floral design and the use of seasonal materials including flowers, fruit, vines, foliage and grasses.
We hope that you enjoy feasting your eyes on the results of the first group's hard work through this little photo-diary...
We are looking forward to hosting anther two groups from Seoul this November for some festive workshops during which we'll be making arrangements, bouquets, wreaths and mantlepiece installations! There may still be places if you would like to join from Korea. Please email us to find out more.
