Our private flower-arranging classes are tailored to your requirements, whether you are hoping to start with the basics, focus on something specific, such as hand-tied bouquets or large-scale arrangements, refresh existing skills or simply spend an inspiring day with exquisite flowers and friendly, supportive instruction.
We will teach you how to approach arranging flowers in an unstructured way, respecting and layering the natural shapes of each element. We will discuss colour, form, scale and setting, and demonstrate flower arranging using flower-foam-free techniques including chicken wire and flower frogs.
Our garden-inspired style celebrates using the most enchanting flowers of each season, and we place great emphasis on the selection of materials available for each student's class.
From April to October we primarily use flowers and foliage from our own cutting garden - scented narcissus, anemones, ranunculus, tulips and fritillaria in the spring; garden roses, foxgloves, iris and sweet peas in the summer; dahlias, cosmos, Japanese anemones and rosehips in the autumn. Foraged materials including sculptural blossom and fruiting branches, shivery wild grasses, vines and berries, add unique elements to each design.
Students choose from a selection of antique props and vessels to arrange in, and from colourful ribbons in silk and velvet to decorate bouquets and buttonholes.
